Nalgene Rapid-Flow Sterile Filter Units
Thermo Scientific
Thermo Scientific Nalgene Rapid-Flow Sterile Filter Units feature the Rapid-Flow multi-column membrane-support system. This proprietary system provides a uniform, consistent separation between touch points within the membrane, minimizing gap stress to maintain optimal flow.
Filter units have tapered sides and "grips" to make units easier to handle. A wide base provides stability on the benchtop. Lot number, catalog number, membrane type pore size, and expiration date are printed on the upper filter units for identification and lot traceability. A color-coded filter identifies membrane type at a glance. Choose from four membrane types:
Polyethersulfone (PES) (Supor® material from Pall Life Sciences) is the best membrane for cell culture fluids including media, serum, additives and buffers. The lowest protein-binding, lowest extractables option, these membranes will maintain protein balance. Rapid-Flow PES filters do not remove critical media components or add harmful elements, and embryonic stem cells grown in media filtered through these filters maintain normal growth and pluripotency.
SFCA is free of the wetting agents found in standard CA (cellulose acetate) that can be toxic to specific cell lines in vitro, and has lower protein binding.
Nylon is tough, alcohol-resistant and has a low level of extractables.
Cellulose acetate is ideal for filtering and clarifying buffers and other aqueous solutions when protein binding is not a concern. TRITON X®-free.
All units have a cellulosic vent plug with quick-disconnect tubing adapter. Graduations on both upper and lower receivers allow volume estimation. Gamma sterilized, certified non-pyrogenic and non-cytotoxic. Individually wrapped. Each unit includes polystyrene cover; graduated upper chamber and storage bottle.
Key Features Rapid-Flow™ technology ensures uniform, consistent separation for optimal flow 0.2 µm filters remove all bacteria; 0.45 and 0.8 µm filters are ideal for particle removal and fluid clarification Three membrane diameters, including a 90mm large surface-area size for serum and other hard-to-filter solutions. PES filters are stem cell tested and reduce contamination risk
