Molecular Biology Reagent FTA Cards
GE Whatman
GE Whatman Molecular Biology Reagent FTA Cards simplify the handling and processing of nucleic acids. Simply apply the sample to the FTA® Card. Cell membranes are lysed and nucleic acids are mobilized on the card for transport, immediate processing or long-term room temperature storage.
Captured nucleic acids are protected from nuclease, oxidation, and UV damage. FTA® Cards inactivate organisms including blood borne pathogens and prevent the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms.
Captured nucleic acids are ready for purification. Just take a sample disc from the FTA® Card, wash with FTA® Purification Reagent, and rinse with TE-1 Buffer. The washed disc is ready to use in applications such as PCR®, RFLP analysis, and RT-PCR®.
Use with virtually any cell type including blood, buccal, bacteria, microorganisms, viral particles, cultured cells, plant tissue, plasmids, solid tissue and M13 plaques.
FTA® Cards are available in white or indicating pink. White FTA® cards are recommended for blood samples, plants tissues and other easily identified samples. Indicating pink FTA® cards turn white upon sample addition and are recommended for buccal cells, cultured cells and other clear samples.
Four configurations of FTA® Cards are available: classic, mini, micro, and gene. All FTA® Cards are sold in packs of 100. Classic, Mini and Micro Cards each have a maximum volume of 125 µL per sample area. Gene Cards have a maximum of 75 µL per sample area.
*Each Card max sample area volume of 125 µL except the Gene Card (3968G) which has a 75 µL max sample area volume and the CloneSaver which has a 5 µL max sample area volume.
Key Features Inactivate organisms Use with virtually any cell type Four configurations available.
