GE Whatman Glass Microfiber Filters GF/A are autoclavable and binder-free. They can withstand temperatures up to 500°C, making them ideal for air filtration and analysis of volatile materials where ignition is involved. The filters are made from chemically inert, 100% borsilicate glass.
Glass microfiber filters are generally used for spot tests and liquid scintillation counting methods. A fine capillary structure allows the filters to absorb larger quantities of water than an equivalent cellulose filter. Filters can be made transparent for microscopic examination.
GF/A glass microfiber filters are approved for general purpose applications. They offer fine particle retention, high flow rate, and good loading capacity. Recommended applications include: gravimetric determination of airborne particles, stack sampling, and absorption methods of air pollution monitoring.
