The Biotube System holds 96 tubes in the standard 8 x 12 microtiter configuration. The tubes are held by a colored interchangeable polypropylene grid plate. This unique grid stands on four legs and can be removed from the base of the box and placed on the lab bench as a self-standing support. It can also be placed in the refrigerator or freezer for improved air circulation around the tubes, or in a shallow water bath to allow controlled warming of tube contents.

The grid rack and translucent box cover feature an alphanumeric system for identifying samples. Rack and cover are keyed to prevent misalignment and sample mix-up. Each rack is also supplied with a removable 96-place ID card for recording sample location. A white bottom completes the unit by creating the perfect workstation or storage box. The cover, grid rack and bottom are made of fully autoclavable polypropylene.

The tubes are made of autoclavable polypropylene and are available either individually or in strips of 8 detachable tubes. Tubes have a gross volume of 1.2 mL uncapped or 1.1 mL with cap on. Biotube System complete with tubes is available either sterile or non-sterile.

Polyethylene caps are sold separately. They are available either sterile or non-sterile; PE caps are NOT AUTOCLAVABLE.
