Principle of Operation: The sensors vibrate at a certain amplitude that is dampened when it is placed in a fluid. The higher the viscosity of the sample, the more the sensor is dampened. The unit measures the amount of electrical current necessary to keep the submersed sensor amplitude equal to the sensor amplitude in air. That electrical current is then automatically correlated into a viscosity reading.

Excellent accuracy and repeatability: The tuning fork vibration method allows accuracy and repeatability of 1% of reading full-scale. In addition, a built-in temperature sensor constantly monitors sample temperature and displays it alongside the viscosity reading on the remote display.

Wide range, continuous and real-time measurement: Without changing sensor plates, the A&D tuning fork viscometer can monitor viscosity ranges between 0.3 cP and 10,000 cP. Instantaneous real-time measurement allows studies in temperature/viscosity relationships as well as the measurement of minute viscosity changes in Newtonian or non-Newtonian fluids.

Accurate measurement of characteristic change: The A&D viscometer can detect accurate temperature variations because the fluid sample and measurement plate are within a small defined surface area, allowing thermal equilibrium in just a few seconds. The low sensor frequency of approximately 30 Hz means little deformation of the sample texture, allowing the stable measurement of viscosity, even with foamy samples.

Simple and easy to use: Each viscometer comes with WinCT-Viscosity software that allows the realtime download of temperature and viscosity data via the built-in RS-232 interface. The standard sample cups provided with the unit require only 35 mL of fluid for accurate testing - no need to waste large amounts of sample. The separate display unit provides a dual display of both viscosity and temperature.

All units come complete with an instruction manual, a 110 V power adapter, a CD-Rom with data collection software, sample cups, an RS-232 cable, a display module, a Jiffy-Jack®, a viscosity stand and a sensor.
