The units operate through a graphical user interface with a mouse, keypad and LCD for user-friendly interactive control. Data can be printed on an optional internal printer or a desktop printer and can be downloaded to a PC through the bidirectional RS232. The internal memory and data card can store methods and results for recall and allow unlimited memory capacity and versatile method and spectra storage. An automatic results log allows readings to be stored or printed at set time intervals.
The 6500 and 6505 offer five modes of operation:
Photometrics: Displays measurements in %Transmittance, Absorbance or Concentration. Concentration units are selectable from ppb, ppm, µg/l, mg/l, g/l, M, %, or blank. Simultaneous display of wavelength and photometric reading.
Spectrum Scanning: Choose scan speed up to 1200nm per minute and scan interval of 0.2, 1, 5, or 10nm. Spectrum scan is instantly displayed with automatic re-scale capability and baseline correction. Post scan analysis includes peak and valley detection, area under curve and addition/subtraction.
Multi-wavelength Analysis: Simultaneous reading and display of up to 4 wavelengths. Choose measurements in %T, A or C. Select primary and secondary wavelengths.
Kinetics: Graphical display of %T or A versus time. Adjustable lag and run time up to 9999 seconds. Run can be set to start at specific photometric value. Can perform runs on up to 4 cells simultaneously. Post run analysis includes line of best fit, initial value, slope and concentration calculation.
Quantitation: Measures samples at a single wavelength and calculates concentration using a calibration curve constructed from standards. Select up to 20 calibration points and choose from 8 curve fits. Up to five duplicate readings can be taken on each standard for a total of 100 readings for one curve.
6500 and 6505 spectrophotometers come standard with a motorized 8 position multi-cell changer. The versatile housing compartment will also accomodate a variety of accessory sample compartments which are easily installed.
Accessories:
Peltier Cell: Heated system comprised of a cell block and an external power supply module. Temperature range is 20 to 50°C with accuracy of ±0.5°C.
Sipper Pump: For automated accurate handling of small volume samples. Selectable one or two-stage sample transfer for optional air-gap after sample reading. Order flow-through cells separately.
Universal Test Tube Holder: Holds tubes between 12 and 24 mm in diameter
