EdvotekŪ AIDS Kit: Simulation of HIV Detection
Study ELISA as a part of the clinical method for AIDS testing!
The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is currently used as an initial clinical screening of blood supplies. Students add simulated HIV antigen to wells in a microtiter plate. This is followed by washing and introduction of simulated antibodies of HIV positive or negative samples. A second antibody covalently linked to horseradish peroxidase enzyme is then added, preferentially binding to the first antibody of HIV positive samples. After washing, enzyme substrates are introduced, yielding a color reaction for HIV positive samples. You need: incubation oven, micropipets and tips, pipet bulbs for 1 mL pipet, glassware, gloves and goggles, and distilled or deionized water. Does not contain HIV or its components. None of the experiment components have been prepared from blood or other human sources. Extra shipping charges apply due to shipment of perishable items.
