Forensic Science Kit

This kit is an excellent introduction to the science of DNA fingerprinting. Activity begins with a crime scene, identification of suspects and video stills of the crime. “Physical evidence” is then evaluated by students. A “chromosome” model with color coded “genes” is reconstructed by students in order to narrow down physical traits of a suspect. DNA mapping and fingerprinting are explained in detail. Simulated DNA x-ray films are then analyzed by students to make a positive identification of the perpetrator. Materials for 30 students. Lab-Aids® 1271.
